Microsoft Profit Rises, But Web Business Remains Weak  -  Microsoft reported Thursday that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit jumped by 13% (factoring in a charge related to Xbox 360 repairs from a year ago) as its revenue surpassed $15 billion in the period ending June 30.

Although the company asserted that the numbers were very good, some analysts found the results disappointing.

Amazon Launches Video On Demand  -  Some Amazon.com customers now have the ability to watch any of 40,000 movies and TV shows on demand. The Amazon Video on Demand service doesn’t require a lengthy wait for videos to download to a user’s hard drive. ::: More

Apple’s iPhone 3G Hits Stores  -  The new Apple iPhone 3G went on sale this morning, with customers lining up around the globe to get their hands on the faster, next-generation device.
